Cartoon Network Hotel Opens for 2020 in Lancaster

Finding hotels in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, just got a bit easier for families. The Cartoon Network Hotel finally had its Pennsylvania premiere on January 10, 2020, so it's ready for all those upcoming school vacations and summer weekend getaways.

The new Lancaster hotel boasts family-friendly suites, some with bunk beds, restaurants, and of course, swimming pools for family downtime. Though delayed from its plans to open in summer 2019, the new Amish country hotel seems to have delivered on its promise to recreate a fun-filled network experience for lodgers.

10 Indoor Play Spaces for Boston Babies, Toddlers, and Preschoolers

There are toys quieter play after kids get their energy out on the play structures at Jam Time.

It’s that time of year. The weather is increasingly dreary and predictably unpredictable. Playgrounds are icy even when the sun's out. And yet, if you have a child who is too young for full-day school or drop-off activities, you've gotta find a way to fill the days and burn off everyone's energy. While some indoor playgrounds cater to big kids, too, we are especially grateful for drop-in playspaces that have special zones designed for babies, toddlers, and young preschoolers. Here's the skinny on 9 of our favorite romper rooms.

Have older kids with energy to burn? Our post about indoor play spaces for little kids and bigger kids in and around Boston might help. If you have very little ones and are looking to add some structure to your week, check out our post about groups for new moms in the Boston area.

Things To Do in Westchester this Weekend: Balto, Baseball Card Show, Open Boat

There are tons of great events for Westchester and Hudson Valley families happening on this January weekend. We've identified happenings that focus on an assortment of topics like sports, animals, history, film, and even American Girl dolls.

For starters, browse the collectibles at the return of the three-day Baseball Card Show. Show your kids how food was made before the advent of the microwave (shocking!) when they learn how to make Bread and Butter in old-school style. In a similar vein, get a glimpse of a servant's life in a 79-room historic mansion à la "Downton Abbey" at A Life in Service Service Tour. More indoor fun can be had creating fashion for an American Girl doll. And if your kids are prone to steering the conversation toward the subject of poop, Scat! gives the topic acceptability, as animal leave-behinds are explored through a naturalist's eye.

There's more! Check out our hot-off-the-press roundup of 50 winter activities for kids (some of which should be booked early) and our Event Calendar to plan your entire weekend—and beyond!

Giant Seesaws Invade Two NYC Neighborhoods

It's no secret New York City is our favorite playground. Always on the hunt for a cool place to play, we were thrilled to visit Impulse, a public art installation that brings giant seesaws to the Garment District and to hear about a second similar installation entitled Wave-Field at the South Street Seaport.

These innovative installations give New Yorkers young and old a pair of unexpected new playgrounds in the heart of the city. Read on for details and plan your outing whether you live uptown or downtown. But hurry: Both displays are here for a limited run.
