A growing number of Westchester and Hudson Valley parents are enrolling their preschoolers in foreign-language programs to expose them to a second language early on. 

Given the growing interest, we've rounded up this list of bilingual preschools in Westchester and the Hudson Valley. Many of these schools also offer after-school and summer programs as well as cultural education activities to reinforce the lessons.

Top Bilingual Preschools in Westchester and the Hudson Valley

Smart Linguists – Scarsdale

​The 3- to 5-year-olds at Smart Linguists of Scarsdale will absorb Spanish in a completely natural way. The Preschool Class curriculum incorporates singing, movement, storytelling, snack time, and art projects, all taught by native-speaking teachers in small classes of about eight kids or less. The classes also help children develop emergent literacy skills, including fine motor skills, sequencing, matching, and sound identification. 

Little Language League – Rye

The Little Language League offers Spanish, French, Italian, and Mandarin immersion programs for children as young as 6 months old and runs through the 8th grade. Depending upon which program you choose, there are options for parent-child classes, theater classes, preschool classes, and more. 

A Kid's World Preschool – Mount Kisco

A Kid's World is a multilingual daycare and preschool that offers language immersion in either Spanish or Italian in addition to English instruction. A before- and after-school program is also offered for ages 5 and up. Along with each month’s theme, planned lessons and activities will introduce the students to numerous subjects, including a music class, a weekly cooking class, and outdoor activities.

Liberty Montessori School – Mamaroneck, New Rochelle

Liberty Montessori Schools incorporate Japanese, Spanish, and French language lessons in their preschool classes. The lessons are reinforced with multicultural activities and songs.

Montessori Children’s Room – Armonk

One afternoon a week, a Spanish language program is offered to children ages 4 and up. Kids build basic vocabulary and begin to develop an understanding and appreciation of international culture as well.  

Hudson Country Montessori Preschool – New Rochelle

Preschool students at the Hudson Country Montessori program participate in weekly Spanish lessons. A foreign-language specialist comes into the classroom and teaches primarily through activity.

The Manitou School – Cold Spring 

The Manitou School is a bilingual English/Spanish school that offers Spanish language immersion for Pre-K through 8th grade. Students participate in Spanish instruction on a daily basis, and Spanish is infused into class meetings, physical education, and areas beyond the classroom.

Little Hearts Playhouse – Newburgh

Little Hearts offers a bilingual English-Spanish preschool program for kids ages 2-5 that prepares them for kindergarten while learning Spanish. The school also offers an after-school language immersion program for grades K-5 and a summer program for ages 2-7. In the summer program, students spend time exploring Spanish-speaking countries and learning about traditions, dance, food, sports, and more.
