Private Picassos has been bringing their at-home art lessons to Westchester, NYC, Long Island, The Hamptons and Connecticut for a long time and now they are serving Northern New Jersey with their unique style. My kids had the good fortune to get PP's founder, Valeen Bhat, right in our Hoboken home for an incredibly fun hour of art and conversation.

All of Private Picassos' instructors are art teachers, which is a distinction that Bhat requires--it is one thing to be an artist, but it is quite another to be able to teach art. The instructors find out what sort of art your child is interested in and personalize the lessons to suit your budding Picasso. My kids chose cartooning, something they adore, and Valeen built the lesson around their need for pictures and thought bubbles. She came with wonderful examples of blocked cartoons and taught them to structure their page--and their thoughts--into the world of a cartoon. The outcome was hilarious and well-made and their process was fun and engaging.
