Whether sending valentines or planning a Presidents Day weekend getaway—there is plenty to love about February in Westchester and the Hudson Valley!

No need to get cabin fever this February as Westchester and the Hudson Valley is filled with fun, family-friendly things to do, including many FREE events. Families can indulge in the beauty of the great outdoors during the Lake George Winter Carnival or warm up at a FREE Cocoa Crawl in downtown Port Jervis.

February marks the beginning of the Year of the Dragon, and families can enjoy multiple festive celebrations, including the Lunar New Year Celebration at Chappaqua Performing Arts Center and a FREE Children's Lunar New Year Celebration at the Scarsdale Library. We can't forget Valentine's Day: Kids are invited to celebrate with Peppa Pig at Shake It Off's Valenswine's Day Party or craft DIY decorations at a FREE Children's Art Workshop at Blue Door Art Center.

It might be the shortest month in the calendar—even when it's a Leap Year—but February is bursting with family fun, including celebrations of Groundhog Day, Lunar New Year, Mardi Gras, Valentine's Day, President's Day, and Black History Month.

Potomac Phil will let us know on Groundhog Day if we have an early spring or six more weeks of winter. Lunar New Year events are abundant, including the DC Chinese Lunar New Year Parade on February 11. Our area is rich in Black history, and there are many events celebrating Black culture and contributions such as Black History Month Family Day in Sandy Spring. And don't miss Mardi Gras at the Wharf. Read on for details on these and other events throughout the month—many of them FREE!

For the shortest month of the year, there are endless free things to do in February in Los Angeles with kids, and an abundance of holidays to celebrate. Looking for things to do in February with kids? Let's be honest; every Chicagoan is relieved that it's a short month, but there are so many fun holidays and celebrations!

Start the month off with Groundhog Day—celebrate by seeing where the movie was filmed in far northwest suburban Woodstock. On the first Saturday of the month, Chicago families can celebrate National Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day at Jeni's stores in the city and suburbs. Celebrate Valentine's Day with the kids by dancing away the night at the Love Bug Dance in Naperville. February is Black History Month, and families can learn more at the Chicago History Museum and celebrate Black communities at Homan Square Park.
