Eastchester With Kids: 25 Things to Do for Westchester Families
Submitted by Danielle Feldman on
Eastchester might be a small town, but when it comes to entertaining kids and families, this town has a lot to offer! Eastchester's roots date back to a group of ten families that migrated to the area back in 1664 from Fairfield, CT. Now home to over 33,000 residents (including the town's two villages, Tuckahoe and Bronxville), this year marks Eastchester's 350th anniversary!
Eastchester and its villages offer award winning school districts, beautiful homes and apartment complexes and a town-owned country club, Lake Isle, a true gem and huge draw for many residents (including myself). Between its close proximity to NYC, stellar school districts, lovely tree lined streets, plus shops and restaurants galore, Eastchester has become a destination town in Westchester. In April, we will be highlighting the town of Eastchester, including its two villages, Bronxville and Tuckahoe. We'll take a look at the best places to eat, play and learn with kids in this charming town, starting with 25 fun things to do with kids in Eastchester.
NJ Kids Birthday Party Entertainers: Clown and Balloon Artist Archie Cobblepot
Submitted by Shari Simpson on
I've never been much of a clown lover--but then I'd never met a cool, laid-back clown with a gift for glorious and crazy air-filled creations. Meet Archie Cobblepot, professional clown, balloon artist and self-proclaimed nincompoop. I hired Archie as part of a whole slate of activities for my 7-year old son's birthday party, and needn't have bothered with anything else--Archie and his balloons were the star of the show, for both the kids and their impressed parents. A Visit to Kids Down on Main Street in Watertown, Connecticut
Submitted by Sherry Pardy on
As a Mom of two high energy, press-all-the-buttons, no-volume-control kids, I am eternally grateful for the few establishments that cater to us. There exist few places where a parent can walk in the door and immediately feel at ease letting their kids roam, explore and press ALL the buttons on everything in the place. A place where no one will tell them to pipe down, slow down, and don't touch that.To find one of those spots in nearby Watertown, CT, well...that's like winning the Momma lottery. Enter, Kids Down on Main Street.

4 Foreign Language Programs for Kids in Lower Westchester
Submitted by Danielle Feldman on
Recently (and out of nowhere) my two-year old daughter proudly announced, “Mommy, gracias means thank you in Spanish!” Being the proud mommy I am, I naturally bragged to my friends and family about her genius. When asked how she learned that phrase I realized she picked it up from an episode of Sesame Street. This got me thinking--if my child picked up a phrase from just one television show, imagine what she might learn from an actual foreign language class?
Kids classes are a great way for kids to learn new skills and make new friends. So why not try a foreign language class? Westchester has terrific options for kids of all ages. We've rounded up 4 learning centers in lower Westchester that offer foreign language immersion through fun-filled activities and exploration.
