With the snow days that the kids have had this winter, it's almost a challenge to keep track of when the weekend begins. We'll give you a pass if you haven't realized that this is the final weekend before Groundhog Day, when we place our fate (and comfort) in the paws of a prognosticating rodent.

If you can't get enough of outdoor cold weather activities, how about trying out ice fishing? Want to celebrate all things groundhog? Check out the Essex Ed Parade to see a larger-than-life groundhog lead a parade down Main Street, or take in a demonstration of how various wild animals spend their winter days. Looking for a more indoor experience? Head over to Hartford for the new Bionic Me exhibit or head over to North Haven for an indoor celebration of everyone's favorite cold weather lover, the polar bear.
