Learn about Native American history and more at Garvies Point Museum Day. Watch as teams play "base ball" as it was played — and spelled — in 1864 at the Doc Adams Old Time Base Ball Festival. These are just some of the events sure to delight kids and families across Long Island this weekend.

It's summer. So head outdoors to the boardwalk, beach, pools, sprinkler parks, or perhaps to cool off at a water park. Jones Beach even has a splash pad ideal for kids.

Pull a seine net in the water, dig in the sand and see what lives in a salt marsh in a family-friendly hike in Southampton with a nature educator from the South Fork Natural History Museum. These are just some of the exciting events and activities going on across Long Island this weekend.

Elsewhere, get your little princess and head to a Sweetheart Princess Tea Party at the Long Island Aquarium. Design your own superhero outfit all weekend at the Long Island Explorium.

Join the Cradle of Aviation Museum as it celebrates the superheroes of the Apollo program on the 50th anniversary of the moon landing— with special guests the New York Avengers cosplay group. Check out the Long Island Children's Museum's latest exhibit, Mash Up Menagerie, which offers visitors the opportunity to collaborate with artist-in-residence Scott Larrabee.These are just some of the exciting goings-on across Long Island this weekend.

On the first weekend of summer, celebrate the diversity of Long Island on the Long Beach boardwalk with weekend events and activities at Long Island Pride Weekend.

Elsewhere on Long Island this weekend, get up close and personal with some of your favorite Long Island Sound marine critters at the Whaling Museum and Education Center, featuring a special visit from The Waterfront Center.

Children can make ice cream, French toast, pickles, and lemonade along with other hands-on activities with Old Bethpage Village Restoration staff.
