I write this post basking in the afterglow of a Mother's Day celebration that included handmade treasures from my kids, a delicious breakfast, and an ice-cold Diet Coke with a squeeze of lime, just the way I like it (they know me so well!). So I'm recharged and inspired to redouble my efforts to track down the most fun local activities for the coming week and beyond. The week ahead is full of eclectic and stimulating fun for Westchester families. The SummerFest Kids' Concert series kicks off with a performance inspired by the hit Disney flick Frozen. Little Einsteins will love doing hands-on experiments with Scientists at Work. And it's hard not to smile at an event called Dance Like a Chicken Day.

After a relaxing, gorgeous Mother's Day, I'm ready to get back at it with my family this week. Our school-year activities are starting to wind down, which means we have more time to get out to museums and some of the great local events going on this spring. We're looking forward to the Lawn on D Grand Opening celebration this coming weekend. As busy parents you may not give too much thought to the people working behind the scenes here at Mommy Poppins. You’re popping in, planning your day or finding an awesome summer camp, then going about your business. If you haven’t been reading for too long, you may think there’s some big corporation with, like, an office full of mombots who run the site. Actually, we’re a bunch of local moms who work from our homes in between running around with our own kids. Veteran readers know our Founder, Anna, our Events Editor, Stephanie, and our longtime NYC Editor, Raven, and recognize the pictures of them and their kids on the site.

Recently, Raven decided to step back a little bit, and I came on as the new NYC Editor (you may have seen my byline in the This Week articles of late). I’ve been settling in and learning my way around, and I thought it was time to introduce myself and say hello.

The tulips are bursting in jewel tones and the birds are singing their little ditties, so any excuse to get the family out of the house is good, good, good!
