The POWER Program - Summer Skills

The Kahane Center’s unique one-week POWER UP Summer Program helps children ages 8-18 with executive functioning struggles learn how to Prioritize, Organize, Work effectively, Exercise for energy, and Regulate emotions. Supervised by experienced professionals—a licensed psychologist and a learning specialist—children engage in hands-on workshops, interactive group projects, and fun activities that help them gain self-awareness and numerous skills to help them benefit from a brighter future.

This week-long program is for children ages 8-18. 4 sessions are offered: August 13-17, 9 AM-12 PM or 1-4 PM; and August 20-24, 9 AM-12 PM or 1-4 PM. Two hours of parent training is also provided to help parents develop the skills to facilitate their children’s growth in executive functioning.

Speech 4 Kids

The Speech 4 Kids Kindergarten Readiness camp offers a fun-filled educational experience in a nurturing environment and promotes the development of necessary skills for success in kindergarten. The camp is designed to give a jumpstart to children who may need extra preparation for kindergarten.

The multi-sensory and engaging curriculum will address attention, reading readiness skills, following directions, receptive language skills, expressive spoken language skills, social pragmatic language skills, and play skills. Your child will learn the foundational skills to support overall academic success while meeting new friends and having fun!

The camp is run by licensed speech language pathologists who specialize in supporting the underlying skills for literacy and language development, which is required for kindergarten success.

Two sessions will be offered, each for two weeks. 

Session 1: June 11th & June 18th, 9-11 AM

Rock Camp

Rock Camp brings the most talented musicians and educators in NYC to work with young musicians (ages 7-19) who are either new to music or wish to master their craft. Students learn a wide range of rock-n-roll styles, have daily lessons (one or two instruments), play in multiple ensembles, read and write music, compose, create film scores, study music theory, learn to improvise, perform in concerts, and can choose from from a variety of electives.

Twin Lakes Farm

Twin Lakes Farm, conveniently located in Bronxville, NY, offers a horseback riding day camp that runs in week-long sessions with full- and half-day options available. The goal is to introduce campers in a fun and safe environment to the wonders of horses and horseback riding. Beginner equestrians are welcome, just be sure to sign up early as space is limited.

Campers spend as much time as possible in the barn with the horses. Activities include daily riding lessons; barn management courses; lessons in horsemanship, feeding and nutrition, grooming, bathing, and parts of the horse; and a second daily mounted activity (options include dressage, western, bareback, mounted games, and more). Additionally, campers complete arts & crafts, scavenger hunts, and games in the field, and, when the schedule allows, travel to sister campus to watch USEF-rated horse shows.
