Acres Away, LLC

Acres Away's Summer Riding Program is being offered weekly from June until September. Children will ride twice daily in small groups or partners according to riding abilities. All riding and on-the-ground curriculum is built around each level of riding skills (if any) that a child may already have.

Campers are taught English and Western styles of riding as well as horse driving. Riding will take place in the ring, fields, and arenas. Students are taught how to steer and use their whole bodies while riding a horse—they don't ride around endlessly in a circle! Children will play games on horseback and ride patterns, obstacle courses, and more.

Safety is the number-one priority, and Acres Away has knowledgable instructors on site. The horses are safe and quiet teachers for children learning how to ride. Children will learn how to take care of horses from feeding to leading to bathing and everything else they need to know.

Camp Jewell YMCA

Camp Jewell’s nationally known residential summer camp program provides kids ages 7-16 with the chance to become part of a dynamic camp community that fosters independence, builds skills, and imparts the positive values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Each week, campers pick three skill clinics to take every morning, such as kayaking, climbing, drama, guitar, and many more. These activities help campers gain confidence in specific skills that interest them. In the afternoon, they head to the waterfront for free swim. Each day includes a siesta, where campers have quiet time to read a book, relax with friends, and write letters home. Days end with an all-camp or village activity, then cabin devotions where campers reflect on the day. The weekends bring special all-camp activities including carnivals, Camp Jewell Olympics, or the World Series of Wiffleball tournament. At Camp Jewell, campers have the time of their lives.
