Cooper Hewitt Design Camp engages kids ages 6 to 12 in fun, real-life design challenges that boost brain and creative powers. Campers will receive special access to the museum's permanent collection and enjoy exciting collaborations with fellow Museum Mile institutions. Watch a video of last year's fun!

July 9-13: Places and Spaces 
Campers will be inspired to create their own designs using their immediate environment as a guide. 

July 16-20: Make Yourself at Home
Campers will design the perfect 3-dimensional space that reflects each camper's personality and style.

July 23-27: Bits and Bots
Campers will learn a variety of creative and technical skills through gallery explorations, hands-on making, and problem solving.

July 30-August 3: Happy Feet
Campers will learn the basics of footwear and shoemaking to make a shoe of their own design.

August 6-10: Typography Today
Campers will learn about typography and create their own letterforms.

Challenge Camp

Challenge Camp is an ACA accredited day camp focused on STEM and arts enrichment for creative children ages 4-15 at Iona University in New Rochelle. The Challenge Camp advantage is that parents and campers customize a program based on the child’s interests, and students follow their courses for an entire session.

Challenge offers over 140 STEM and arts project-based electives to engage and inspire campers. Courses range from 3-D Printing, Art Chess, Coding, Cooking, Drones, Dungeons & Dragons, Escape Room, E-Sports, Fashion, Filmmaking, Game Design, Lego, Magic, Makerspace, Minecraft, Photography, Podcasting, Robotics, Rocketry, Theater, and more. The Discover, Imagine & Create program is for students entering Kindergarten in fall. Active sports options including basketball, dance, fencing, ninja warrior, pickleball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, and an on-site swim program that allows campers to challenge their minds and bodies. A hot lunch and snack are included. Transportation and early drop-off/extended day options are available.

Brooklyn Youth Music Project (BYMP)

BYMP Summer Music Camp offers programs in Suzuki for Strings, String Orchestra & Chamber Music, Wind Ensemble & Chamber Music, and Jazz Ensemble. All programs are two weeks, except Suzuki for Strings which can be taken as a one- or two-week program. Camp is located in Kensington and takes place on-site at P.S. 230*.

The Connecticut Audubon Society

The Connecticut Audubon Society’s summer camps are state-licensed and offer both full- and half-day sessions in unique learning environments. Campers ages 4 through 14 attend weeklong science- and nature-themed programs that inspire and build a life-long connection to the natural world. Students ages 14-18 can apply for half-day or full-day Junior Counselor volunteer positions.

Whether in the woodlands and meadows of the Fairfield Larsen Sanctuary or the marshes, beaches, and tidal pools of the Milford Coastal Center, campers get to explore and investigate nature’s riddles, learn about habitats, develop outdoor skills, and meet live animals.

All camp programs are led by teacher-naturalists and college-educated staff with experience in education and/or science and training in first aid, CPR, and Epi-Pen use. The high staff-to-camper ratio ensures all campers a safe, educational, and enjoyable camp experience.

HudsonWay Immersion School - Spanish/Mandarin Summer Camp

HudsonWay Immersion School's summer camp allows students to explore their world in three exciting adventures through language and culture: 

  • Water, Water, Everywhere (June 25-July 6)
  • Food from the Earth (July 9-July 20)
  • Manmade Wonders (July 23-August 3)

Each two-week study provides an age-appropriate perspective on important aspects of the world. Students gain cultural appreciation while developing language skills in a Mandarin or Spanish immersion environment. Students are grouped by age and language ability. Activities will include exposure to science, geography, literature, cooking, art, music, and outdoor activities. Each two-week theme will culminate in a project and presentation.
