Professional Youth Theatre Summer Camp

0

PYT offers a seven-week day camp for children entering 1st through 12th grade with full-day and half-day options. Founded on the principle that children should be taught by top, vetted professionals who themselves have received the best training and enjoyed successful careers, PYT brings in only the most qualified instructors from NYC to comprise its faculty.

PYT's summer camp offers students an opportunity to study theater intensively over a seven-week period. Students are exposed to every aspect of musical theater, including both the performing arts and technical elements of theater. Students spend the first half of each day working on acting, singing, and dancing technique with top faculty. Special guest teaching artists, many of whom are currently on Broadway, visit students weekly to delve into specific areas of interest. In the afternoons, students rehearse for their end-of-summer musical, a large-scale, professional-caliber production.

The Secret Theatre

The Secret Theatre provides an eclectic mix of plays, musicals, children's theatre, dance, and other events. It's also the headquarters of the Secret Theatre Academy, which has been providing some of the best musical theatre and drama instruction in Queens for over 9 years. Classes offered include Drama, Broadway Musical, Film Acting, Tap, and even one-to-one private lessons and audition coaching. The faculty is led by writer/director Richard Mazda, who teaches all classes for tweens and teens.

The STA also offers several day-camps which have become very popular. During the week-long camps for winter and spring break—as well as throughout the summer—students create and perform a whole show in just 5 days. Campers participate in fun theatre games, build social skills, collaborate on an original script, and then present a fully realized show for family and friends.
