There are so many fun and interesting options for summer camps right in our own backyards. In many local towns the Parks and Rec department offers everything from tennis lessons, flag football, arts and crafts, lego/robotics and day trips. The camps are relatively inexpensive and cover a broad age range (as well as provide the added bonus of meeting other local families in your area). Each park and recreation department in the Northwest Corner of CT is listed in this post. Just go to the individual town's site to see their offerings and details. You don't always have to be a resident to participate in a different town's programs. Many are happy to have outsiders join in on the fun. Some even allow you to visit just for the day, providing you with even more flexibility when planning your child's summer fun. My children take part in our town's soccer camp each summer and always leave with new skills as well as some new friends.
