Easter Weekend for Long Island Kids: Egg Hunts, Peter Rabbit, Joshua Show April 4-5

It's Easter weekend and the continuation of spring break for most Long Island children. Catch a live performance or head to a local museum. Some egg hunts have been rescheduled due to last weekend's snow, so be sure to check our listings. Families can also head outside for some sun and silliness at an April Fool's Hike at Sagamore Hill.

Easter Weekend in Boston with Kids: Egg Hunts & Big Apple Circus April 4-5

Happy Easter and Passover! With both holidays this weekend, families can find plenty of things to do. Those hoping to squeeze in a last Easter activity can still find the Easter Bunny this weekend, often at some of the biggest egg hunts around town. Some special places to spot the bunny include the Bunny Bonanzoo at the Stone Zoo (pictured) and the Easter Egg Dash at the Paragon Carousel in Hull. Those looking for a first taste of Passover can join in the Community Passover Seder in Brookline. Saturday is also opening day at the Frog Pond Carousel, a great way to enjoy spring.

Families looking to catch a performance this weekend have plenty of options as well. The spectacle under the big top at the Big Apple Circus on City Hall Plaza in Boston is still going strong. Other performances include a Peter Rabbit puppet show in Brookline and the Tamagawa Daigaku Taiko and Dance Group in Boston.

Horseback Riding Camps in Fairfield County

I was besotted by horses when I was a child so it was not at all surprising when my daughter spotted a grazing pony from the car window one day and asked if she could have a horse of her own. The answer to horse ownership was, regrettably, no (an answer that had to be repeated several times a day for the next few months), but we did agree to horseback riding camp, and we were happy to find so many options close by. There's no way around it: full-day camp options tend to be quite pricey, but some of the part-day programs are very reasonable (and tend to book up quickly).

Take Me Out to the Ball Game: Affordable Mets & Yankees Ticket Deals

I've written in the past about my family's love of baseball, which extends well beyond just playing. My son, a die-hard Yankees fan, has seen games in six big-league ballparks. With spring in the air, and Opening Day only days away (the Yankees are back in the Bronx on April 6, the Mets at Citi Field on April 13), I've been looking for tickets that can get my family of five into a game without breaking the bank. Read on for the scoop on wallet-friendly ticket deals, and my tips for enjoying America's favorite pastime with your brood in tow.
