Although most adults know the story of the Titanic (especially those of us who lived through Titanic-mania fueled by the 1997 movie), kids aren't familiar with the ship or its history. Many kids find the tragic story fascinating. My seven-year old son became obsessed with the ill-fated steamship last summer after reading a fictionalized account of the tragedy in the Magic Tree House book Tonight on the Titanic. He had so many questions about how this incredible ship could crash and sink on its very first journey that he went to the library to research the true story. He even watched iceberg simulations on the Internet trying to figure it out!

This week marks the 100th anniversary of the RMS Titanic and while there are lots of events commemorating the catastrophe in New York City (the ship was on its way to the Big Apple, after all), we've rounded up age-appropriate ways for kids to learn about the disaster.

Often the best bet for reasonably priced day camps are those camps run by individual town’s Parks and Recreations Departments.  Wilton, Greenwich and Bridgeport all have town-sponsored programs that are reasonably priced.

We continue our month-long focus on Dumbo with a look at indoor places for kids to play and learn in the neighborhood. Although many families are moving to the area for its amazing views, cool culture and great things to do, Dumbo is still a work in progress when it comes to kids' play spaces—there's nary a kiddie gym franchise in sight. But in addition to a handful of athletic spots like Dumbo Gymnastics and Brooklyn Bridge Fencing, we've found some more offbeat spots where kids can take cool classes or just run around a bit.

Last week I posted a bunch of last minute spring break deals, but I think this week's crop of travel deals is even better. Whether your'e looking for a last minute getaway this week, or a Spring weekend getaway or a summer vacation deal, I found big discounts on trips to Montreal and Myrtle Beach, Philadelphia and South Beach and, of course, DisneyWorld, plus a bunch of hot destinations for this summer. These deals are so good, I'm tempted to go on these vacations myself. If you see I suddenly stop posting next week, you'll know why!
