The week ahead is full of eclectic and stimulating fun for Westchester families. The SummerFest Kids' Concert series kicks off with a performance inspired by the hit Disney flick Frozen. Little Einsteins will love doing hands-on experiments with Scientists at Work. And it's hard not to smile at an event called Dance Like a Chicken Day.

Weekday Picks for Boston Kids: Hiking, Kickboxing and Boot Camp, May 11-15

After a relaxing, gorgeous Mother's Day, I'm ready to get back at it with my family this week. Our school-year activities are starting to wind down, which means we have more time to get out to museums and some of the great local events going on this spring. We're looking forward to the Lawn on D Grand Opening celebration this coming weekend. But first, our picks of the week below include plenty of fun and free (or inexpensive) events for babies to teens. So, get on out and enjoy them, and don't forget to check out our full Event Calendar!

Weekday Event Picks for NYC Kids: Kings County Fair, Puppets, Museums May 11-15

We've got a week packed with fun activities for New York City kids and families! Go for a ride at the Kings County Fair in Brooklyn, catch a performance of CityParks PuppetMobile's touring show, The Tales of Brier Rabbit, explore wildflowers in Staten Island's Clay Pit Ponds State Park and more.

Although we only highlight one event per day in this post, you can find plenty of other options in our Event Calendar and our Spring Fun Guide.

Happy Mother's Day From Mommy Poppins' Newest Mom-in-Chief

Dear Mommy Poppins Community,

As busy parents you may not give too much thought to the people working behind the scenes here at Mommy Poppins. You’re popping in, planning your day or finding an awesome summer camp, then going about your business. If you haven’t been reading for too long, you may think there’s some big corporation with, like, an office full of mombots who run the site. Actually, we’re a bunch of local moms who work from our homes in between running around with our own kids. Veteran readers know our Founder, Anna, our Events Editor, Stephanie, and our longtime NYC Editor, Raven, and recognize the pictures of them and their kids on the site.

Recently, Raven decided to step back a little bit, and I came on as the new NYC Editor (you may have seen my byline in the This Week articles of late). I’ve been settling in and learning my way around, and I thought it was time to introduce myself and say hello.
