With Valentine’s Day around the corner, there are plenty of ways to share the love with your kids this weekend, from cool craft projects like heart-shaped mobiles at Poets House and Steampunk valentines at McNally Jackson to family parties at the Brooklyn Children's Museum and El Taller Latino.

It's also an incredible weekend for music. Brand-new baby store J&R Jr. is throwing a two-day grand opening celebration featuring free performances by Dan Zanes, Laurie Berkner, the Dirty Sock Funtime Band and other NYC-based acts. Up at Symphony Space, you can catch a really special symphonic Gustafer Yellowgold concert. If jazz is more your thing, you can learn all about the genre at the Brooklyn Public Library or get a taste of improvisation at a Lincoln Center Jazz for Young People Concert.

Valentine’s Day is a special day to show your love for all the special people in your life.  There are many fun family events in the area to help celebrate this day together by jumping, crafting or best of all hugging and kissing.

Monster Trucks are smashing, crashing, and monster-mashing their way through Dodger Stadium Presidents Day weekend, in a high-flying, car-crushing explosive event of demolition, speed and, powerful stunts. In short, Monster Jam is coming to town!

The arrival of the Monster Truck stampede is pretty darn exciting on its own - but get ready to rev your engines, because we've added the excitement of a give-away!    I have to admit that motocross really isn't my thing. I'm much more likely to get excited by the idea of spending an evening curled up with a copy of Pride and Prejudice than sitting in an arena watching motorcycles fly through the air to heavy metal music. But I'm always up for trying something new—especially when the prospect makes my kids go wild. So when we were invited to check out Nuclear Cowboyz, the FMX (freestyle motocross) extravaganza, I put on my best tweeds and went to see what surprises a pyrotechnic motocross show might hold for us.

After watching the promo video, I became intrigued. The footage promised daring tricks, fire and lasers. Is Nuclear Cowboyz the Cirque du Soleil of motocross?
