Weekday Picks for LI Kids: Storytime & Art, Purim Celebration, Hula Hoops & More, March 2-6

March is finally here and we're that much closer to spring. The cold and snow has given many kids a serious case of cabin fever. Until the winter finally says bye bye, we'll have to find ways to keep the kids busy indoors. This week, there's storytime and art at LICM, a Purim Extravaganza, Hula Hoop and more.

Of course, this list is just our top picks--be sure to check out our Long Island Events Calendar regularly as it is always being updated. And to receive this post right into your inbox, sign up for our newsletter, which is now going out twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays).

Weekday Picks for Connecticut Kids: March 2-6

It looks like March will certainly come in like a lion with yet more snow that has arrived on Sunday. Hopefully these picks for the week will inspire you, whether the days are filled with snow or sun. We only highlight one activity per day in this post, but you can find plenty of other fun options each day in our Event Calendar and March GoList. This week you can enjoy some yoga, cooking, and a crafty story time.  For even more ideas, our Winter Fun and Indoor Play Guide are terrific resources. Editor's Note: Some of these events may be canceled or postponed by the occasionally unpredictable winter weather. Always call the venue first to confirm. Stay warm and safe!

Weekday Picks for Boston Kids: Free Film Friday and More, March 2-6

Spring is finally in the air as temperatures start to rise above freezing this week, giving stir-crazy families a much-needed break. There's still plenty of time to enjoy the snow, though. With the warmer air, it might be more enjoyable to take the kids to one of the local sledding and tubing hills. However, hiding out and waiting for spring's true arrival at one of the indoor play spaces in the area is another great option.

To get a head start on planning the month, our March GO List highlights events you won't want to miss, including Free Film Fridays at the Museum of Science starting this Friday.

Special events this week include a free Blizzard Voices concert at Jordan Hall, an ARTfull Play program for preschoolers at the DeCordova, and Raccoon Tales puppet show in Brookline. Read on for our picks of the week, and don't forget to check out the full events calendar!

Weekday Picks for Westchester Kids: Library Sleepover, Purim in the Wild West, Movies and More, Mar. 2-6

The switch from February to March reminds us that spring is near and warmer temperatures are on their way! While many weekend events this month in Westchester focus on St. Patrick’s Day and maple sugaring, the weekdays are a great time to take in other activities.

March is also the time for Purim, and we think Purim in the Wild West sounds like a rousing way to celebrate. Two fun, throwback films are being shown this week, one of which, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizza Party, means you don’t have to make dinner. If you feel that winter has impeded your adventurousness, enjoy an indoor slumber party at Family Night at the Library.

But don’t stop there! Read on for all our top picks for Monday through Friday—then continue on to our Events Calendar for even more great options for every day of the week, including ways to celebrate the annual Read Across America day, like Read Across America: "Oh, The Places You'll Go" & Dr. Seuss Bingo. Also consult our hot-off-the-press March GoList for our top picks for the month. And if you haven't already, be sure to sign up for our FREE newsletters

Read on for an introduction to the basic public choices out there, and in coming weeks look for more in-depth information about charters, magnets, permits, and the daunting point system. We look forward to providing all of you who live within the borders of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) with a sense of how to take charge of your families' educational choices.

Weekday Event Picks for NYC Kids: Free National Reading Month Celebrations, Purim Carnival, Orchid Show March 2-6

March is National Reading Month so this week's picks include FREE storytimes with Curious George at multiple New York Public Library branches and Read Across America Day celebrations with readings of the new classic Click, Clack, Moo. Plus, celebrate Purim and try a FREE acrobatic class at one of our favorite circus schools.

Although we only highlight one event per day in this post, you can find plenty of other options in our Event Calendar and Winter Fun Guide.

PawSox: An Alternative to Fenway for Boston Kids

Watching the Red Sox play at Fenway can be a magical experience. But when you’re bringing young children, it can turn into something, well, less than magical. Instead of being awe-inspiring, the massive and crowded stadium might be terrifying to your little one. You end up leaving before the end of the first inning or spending the entire game at the overpriced concession stands. That’s a whole lotta moolah down the drain.

There is one day a year when you can experience the magic of watching a game at Fenway without breaking the bank: Futures at Fenway. For the rest of baseball season, there's the Pawtucket Red Sox (PawSox), welcoming Boston families to their home stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.  Read on for 5 reasons to go to a PawSox game, plus 5 tips for getting the most out of the experience.
