The Freshkills Park Mobile Education Lab rolls into FDR Four Freedoms Park, hosting activities that explore NYC’s relationship with its shorelines and its history of landfilling for development. For the main activity, UnCommon Pages, participants make field notebooks out of Phragmities, an invasive plant, and learn how landfilling, and invasive plants continue to shape the waterways of New York City.

City of Water Day—now in its eleventh year—is a free annual festival organized by the Waterfront Alliance to get people to, on, and in New York Harbor and its surrounding waterways.

This is a free event recommended for ages 8+; advance registration is strongly encouraged.
