Algorithmics Ninja Coding Camp

Algorithmics Coding and Game Design School has partnered with Brooklyn Zoo NY to create its first ever Ninja Coding Camp. Campers will learn the fundamentals of coding, computer science, and project management and apply them to their own cartoon and video game designs. Each camper will have the opportunity to create and manage their very own project on the Algorithmics interactive platform.

Computer science and algorithmic thinking are important, but also valuable are physical play and getting away from the screen. Enter Brooklyn Zoo NY, a parkour and ninja warrior training facility. Campers will spend several hours each day in the gym learning the basics of parkour, tumbling, and trampoline; playing games; and competing on Ninja Warrior-style obstacle courses.

Camp is for ages 8-12. Laptops are provided. No coding skills are required. Discounts are available for siblings and multiple bookings. Visit the website for pricing and more information.

Carmelo The Science Fellow

Get into construction, dissection, chemistry, dinosaurs, forces, and more through our science classes. They are all hands-on and age-specific, so that every child learns by doing, every day. Carmelo the Science Fellow’s after school classes facilitate inquiry-based science activities that are fun to do, at the same time, develop a number of science process skills like problem solving, creative-thinking, decision making, classifying, measuring, and many more. Carmelo creates opportunities for students to see science as part of their everyday experiences, whether it is learning through the eyes of a biologist, physicist, geologist, botanist, or ecologist. Every session, each child who attends an after school class will understand and experience these many disciplines of science. For instance, young kids may participate in a class on Pirates.  In this class kids will learn about buoyancy, construct air cannons, build catapults & so much more.

Activities include drawing, 3-D model making, interior design, city planning, computer design, "green" design projects, and an intensive two-week Architectural Design Studio for high school students.

Chess NYC Fun & Training Camp

Chess NYC's policy of "Chess Should Be Fun" prevails during the cool days of Fun & Training Camp. Plenty of supervision and special attention to those with greater commitment levels to chess (as well as those who need an extra boost) are a few advantages of this camp. These features combined with great play mean that kids go home as well rounded, effective chess players.

Three hours of chess activities led by Chess NYC's championship coaching staff are threaded through each full 8-hour day, and that's just the beginning. Outdoor fun, water play, sports, and other activities thrill attendees and prepare them for the next chess activities.

Of course, chess is always available and even encouraged, and young enthusiasts play much more (some campers play at a very advanced level). The alternative—fun activities, pizza, ice cream, and more—ensures they'll all keep coming back!
