Monday, February 20th is Presidents' Day. And, although most children have the day off from school, many Philly parents are not so fortunate. Valentine's Day Fun for Philly Kids

Philadelphia is a wonderful place to celebrate Valentine's Day. Known as the City of Brotherly Love, Philly offers lots of fun for families with young children or older ones. Some events are perfect drop off opportunities so parents can grab dinner alone while others offer time to bond as a family. MLK Jr. Weekend Fun for Philly Kids: Visit Museums, Stay Up Late, Try Science, and More!

Philly kids may have an extra day off from school. But, this day off means more than just 'no homework.' Recognize Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with one of the many opportunities to celebrate his legacy by visiting museums, attending service events, or doing some arts and crafts. School's Out Day Camps for Martin Luther King Jr Day in the Philly Area

While Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a National holiday, not all parents have the day off of work. Fortunately, there are a number of one-day camps where kids can play, learn, create, or explore the outdoors.

Hanukkah Events and Menorah Lightings for Philadelphia Families

Philly families can find many ways to celebrate Hanukkah throughout the city and surrounding suburbs as can be seen in our jam-packed events calendar. This year's celebration begins on the evening of Saturday, December 24th, and continues for eight days through January 1st. Throughout the Delaware Valley, families can attend menorah lighting ceremonies, listen to traditional stories, make seasonal crafts, watch puppet shows, and eat delicious latkes as they celebrate the Festival of Lights.

Holiday Craft Fairs and Markets in and around Philadelphia

Shopping for the perfect gift can be one of the most dreaded tasks to accomplish over the winter holidays, especially with the kids in tow. It doesn't have to be though. We've rounded up some of the top craft fairs, holiday markets, Christmas bazaars, and pop-up shops in the area. Some are only one day events while others are weeks long. In addition, many of these locations have activities to keep the kids occupied. An added bonus is that these venues feature one of a kind gifts, the kind you can't find at the mall. And, if you have some 'difficult to please' individuals on your shopping list like me, this gives you the chance to wow them with a great holiday find. Happy shopping!

Weekend Fun for Philly Kids: Chinese New Year, Nature, Theater Jan 30-31

As January ends this weekend and we welcome February next week, Philly families can enjoy this time of year with a variety of activities. This weekend, Penn Museum celebrates The Year of the Monkey at its Chinese New Year event. Lambertville-New Hope Winter Festival is set to entertain with puppet shows, the rescheduled parade, and a theatrical performance. And, tarantulas invade the Academy of Natural Science of Drexel University as it opens this featured exhibit.

However, if you are tired of the cold and snow and are hoping to hear good news from Punxsatawney Phil, the famous groundhog in Pennsylvania on February 2, head over to John Heinz Natural Wildlife Refuge to learn about groundhogs at its Groundhog Day Family Festival.

As we shovel the snow from the Blizzard of 2016, it is time to focus on the week ahead. Since many Philly families were cooped up inside over the weekend, both parent and child are ready to get out. Thankfully, our Events Calendar can provide many options for the week.

Explore Morris Arboretum's Tu B'Shevat program, make a craft with Chester County Arts Association at Exton Mall's Mommy and Me, enjoy a winter walk at Briar Bush Nature Center's Magic Mornings, or listen to a Book in the Nook at Delaware Museum of Natural History. Be sure to check out indoor play spaces in Philly, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties, as they can provide a much-needed escape from home this time of year.
