Rockaway Waterfront Alliance offers the SALT program for students ages 15-19 who are interested in doing environmental science field work. Students will take part in collecting scientific data and research with RWA partner universities and educational institutes presently conducting research on Jamaica Bay and the Rockaway shoreline. Students will also be involved in RWA shoreline restoration projects and will spend time each day out on the water learning to kayak and surf with certified instructors.
Each weekly session, students take part in different research projects. Students will receive community service hours that can be used toward their high school graduation requirements.
The program takes place at the RWA headquarters and runs weekdays from 10 AM-4 PM.
Session 1: 6/11-6/15/18 (full)
Session 2: 6/18-6/22/18 (space still available)
If you are interested in environmental science research or love the water, then this is the program for you!
