Brook Arts Center Summer Theater Camp

Camp Brook is dedicated to giving young students the opportunity to have fun, build confidence, and stretch their imaginations. Three programs are offered for students entering first through sixth grade in the fall. The first week workshop will focus on exploring imagination through theater games, pantomime, role playing, and improvisation. Students will discover their talents through the use of skits and short plays. Campers will learn stage movement, directions, voice, and technique. The second week workshop will focus on rehearsing Camp Brook’s showcase production, which will be presented the evening of July 20.

Classes are July 9-20, 2018 from 9 AM-12 PM, weekdays only. Tuition includes 2 weeks of classes, a camp shirt, and two tickets to our showcase on Friday, July 20th.

The Reading 4 Smiles agency offers an educationally enriched after-school program and a literacy based summer camp. The agency is designed to aid children in obtaining and persevering in their academics, acting as an additional resource of support for academic success. Reading 4 Smiles works with children both individually and in small groups on building and enhancing vocabulary, writing, and reading comprehension skills. The agency serves as an educational and recreational program that inspires students to challenge themselves academically while encouraging college-bound goals.

North Cove Sailing

North Cove Sailing offers a youth summer sailing camp where budding sailors ages 7-17 learn the physics of sailing over the course of a week or several weeks. Campers work as a team to prepare the 26-foot boats for sailing, steer the boats, and adjust the sails. In the event of inclement weather, campers will participate in sailing-related STEM lessons on land. All instructors have US Coast Guard captain's licenses.

This summer, Chess NYC has gone virtual! Chess NYC's policy of "Chess Should Be Fun (Even Online)" prevails during the cool days of Fun & Training Camp. From beginners to grandmasters, these camps are sure to inspire, captivate, motivate, and generate chess players of all levels. Chess NYC is offering 4 levels of chess classes:

  • Head Start Jr.—Weekly progressive sessions to jump start your little one into the game.
  • Advancing in Chess—Classes focusing on basic strategies, defense, tactics, and competitive play.
  • GM Inspired TAG I—Classes for more competitive players focusing on advanced strategies and online competitive play.
  • GM Inspired TAG II—After graduating from TAG I, hourly classes will push students to the limit with next-level training and online competitive play.
