For older kids, options include after-school art, and school break and summer programs.

Park Slope Rock School

0

Park Slope Rock School Brooklyn was founded in 2008 by musician and educator Jason Domnarski. It offers two 12-week semesters each year, in addition to private lessons (voice, guitar, keyboards, bass, drums) and a summer camp program.

Since 2011, PSRS Brooklyn students have had the privilege of recording their original music at Bunker Studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The Bunker’s talented and professional team work with our teachers to give our students an unforgettable life experience, introducing them to the joys of recording in a state-of-the-art facility and helping them discover the pride that comes with bringing out the best in their original songs.

Central Park Sports

0

The Central Park Sports philosophy is simple: Kids want to have fun; being outside is fun; sports and games are fun. The Central Park Sports Summer Program provides outdoor athletic activity and instruction in a non-competitive, fun environment for children ages 3-10. Campers receive basic instruction from local coaches and college athletes in a variety of sports (soccer, baseball, basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, football, etc.), as well as supervision in classic park games such as frisbee, capture the flag, and more. Emphasis is on having fun and demonstrating good sportsmanship while learning the basic skills and rules of the games. Something that sets Central Park Sports apart from other programs is its flexible schedule to fit your needs. You can select individual days or even half-days to participate. At Central Park Sports, your child will come home happy, dirty, possibly wet from a water fight or sprinkler run, and definitely ready for a nap!

Portside Arts Center - Summer Arts Camp

0

Give your child a fun and creative summer at Portside Arts Center. Students will be exposed to a wide range of art and artists while creating masterpieces of their own. Students will sculpt, build, paint, draw, and collage their way through the summer during daily art projects. They will go on exciting weekly field trips to local gems like Longwood Gardens, Smith Memorial Playground, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Each day children will have the opportunity to play at Cione Playground and socialize with their friends during snack, lunch, and structured indoor play time. The Sharks (ages 8-12) will have the opportunity to enjoy swimming with their friends every Friday, and the Minnows (ages 4-7) will enjoy weekly dance parties. This year, Portside’s summer arts camp is targeting the weeks that schools are off and there are limited care options so that you can ensure your child is in a safe and creative environment. Camp runs Monday-Friday, 7:30am-5:30pm.

Third Street Preschool

0

Third Street is a play-based nursery school that draws inspiration from multiple early childhood philosophies and educators. This eclectic approach provides the opportunity for its exceptional teachers to plan curriculum with the developmental milestones of each age group of students in mind, which is then carried out through project-based learning. Through play, children reenact experiences, try out different roles, express ideas, develop vocabulary, process information, and widen their view of the world surrounding them. The curriculum is scaffolded from age level to age level, to ensure that its learners are mastering developmental goals in all areas of learning and ultimately are prepared for kindergarten.
