Ringo Starr: Peace and Love for LA Kids at the GRAMMY Museum

Quick - name a Beatle. Did you say Ringo? Bet you did! Even if you went for John, Paul, or George, chances are that the Beatle your kids know best is Ringo. There's just something about Ringo - the familiar face, the familiar voice, the familiar beat of his familiar drums - everyone loves Ringo Starr. That's why the GRAMMY Museum's newest exhibit, Ringo: Peace and Love (open through April 2014), is such a fab outing for parents, kids, and even grandparents to all enjoy together. Big smiles and hummed tunes are practically guaranteed.

Father's Day Ideas For All Types Of Dads

As a little girl I thought of my dad as a superhero. I imagined that after tucking me in he would fly off into the night and rid the world of evildoers. Now, a parent myself, I realize my childhood dream wasn't all that far off. Like many fathers on Long Island, my dad leaped from job to train to home on a daily basis, helped with homework and dinner, and of course tucked us in every night. This year on Father's Day, I say we crank Dad's superhero status on up to 11 and give him a day worthy of a super-duper superhero. So what does Dad enjoy most on Father's Day? I guess that depends on whom you ask. We compiled a list of activities as diverse as the dads, granddads, uncles, and brothers we love. Whatever you choose, we're sure it'll make dad feel like a superhero once again. Enjoy! And please be sure to check out our calendar of events for even more fun on Father's Day.

Day Trip to Old Wethersfield in Hartford County, CT

There are plenty of historical places to visit in Connecticut, but Old Wethersfield is one of the oldest and is named "Ye Most Auncient Towne." Sequestered from the modern town of Wethersfield, Old Wethersfield has maintained their small community feel with a bustling Main Street, quaint shoppes and wholesome places for kids to enjoy. The streets of Old Wethersfield are lined with over 300 historical houses with 50 even built before the American Revolution. Here are my top ten things to do in and around Old Wethersfield.

If you're looking for more local history, take a day to visit Harriet Beecher Stowe's home or the Noah Webster house, both of which made legendary impacts on Nutmeg history.

South Fork Wineries With Kids

Mommy Poppins isn't exactly the place one would expect wines to be highlighted; but let's face it, aren't the best spent days when children are happy doing something that parents enjoy?  Long Island wineries earned recognition for diversity and the ability to produce high quality wines. While the North Fork is better known for its wineries, the three that reside on the South Fork should not be overlooked.
