Storefront Science
Submitted by Storefront Science on
Storefront Science summer camps are inquiry-based, exploratory and thematic, allowing kids to "go deep" in a particular science area. Each week, we offer two topics - morning and afternoon - so kids can spend their summer doing things they are interested in. You can select as few or as many weeks as you like, and half-day or full day options!
StoSci camp is open to children from 4 to 12 years. Half day camp (9-Noon or Noon-4) is $350 per week and full day camp (9-4PM) is $600 per week. 10% discount for multiple weeks. Snacks are provided, but please pack lunch.
SUMMER 2014
**All camps will be held at the First Baptist Church: 265 West 79th Street (on the corner of Broadway & 79th). We will be conducting our experiments and explorations in Riverside Park and Central Park, as well as some local museums and landmarks, and on the streets of the UWS.

Descriptions:
Playground Physics - or how do those things work?!
Let’s explore the fundamentals of physics – forces and motion - in playgrounds and parks!
Building Big - and wide and tall and stable!
Size, Scale, Strength, Stability – we’ll examine them all as we explore the UWS and build models.
Urban Naturalist - the wonders of New York City!
Let’s explore the parks and waterways of the UWS to learn about the flora and fauna that share our city with us.
Too Small to See - and too big to ignore!
From sub-atomic particles to the knowable universe – let’s explore super small to super big!
Tinker Time - where science, art and creativity hang out!
Let’s get creative and design and build kinetic art, moving machines, robots, and more.
Go Fly a Kite - And other uplifting pursuits!
It’s time to defy gravity! We’ll design and build kites, paper airplanes, and other gravity-defying machines.
Let’s Get Physical - How does your body work?
With NYC as our lab, we’ll explore how our body works.
Hey Old Bones - Let’s Talk Paleontology!
Travel back in time to explore rocks, minerals, fossils and of course, dinosaurs.
Highlighted by Mommy Poppins, Time Out New York Kids, New York Magazine, and The New York Times!
