Hard to believe, but spring in Atlanta is a mere month away. And while some might celebrate the arrival of a new season, fans of winter will want to head out to two cold-weather attractions before they close for the year. License to Chill at Lanier Island Resort in Buford and Snow Mountain at Stone Mountain Park both shut for the season on Sunday, February 23.

Those are just two of the many things to do on busy weekend in the Atlanta area, where science, children's theater and even a visit from the Hello Kitty gang ought to inspire your young ones. You can even introduce them to a bit of multicultural Atlanta with events at the Michael P. Carlos Museum and the Weber School.

Theater, music, STEM or sports ... chances are whatever your kids are into they will find a great thing to do (or two) in the Washington DC area this weekend. Enjoy ballet at the National Theatre, robotics in Baltimore, museum fun in DC, or perhaps discover a bit of our natural world in Wheaton, Maryland.

Rodeo, music, STEM or sports ... chances are whatever your kids are into they will find a great thing to do (or two) in the Orlando area this weekend. Enjoy theme-park special events at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, an old-fashioned county fair in Kissimmee, or perhaps discover a bit of our natural world at the Tiber-Butler Preserve.

Go fly a kite. We're not being snarky: It's just one of a host of great things to do with Atlanta kids this weekend.

It's National Kite Day and that means a big celebration in Alpharetta, where your kids can enjoy music, art, and kite-making at Chiringa.

Elsewhere this weekend, kids can enjoy theater, a family hike, and a brand-new exhibit at the Fernbank Museum.

Things to Do in Orlando This Weekend With Kids: Valentines, Family Funday

It's that special time of year, when thoughts turn to sweethearts and loved ones. Valentine's Day is on the horizon and kids in the Orlando area can get into the spirit with a number of great things to do this weekend.

Enjoy a Valentine's Day scavenger hunt in Winter Park, a family dance party in Celebration, crafts events in Oviedo and Longwood, and even a celebration with the Valentine's owls at the Avian Reconditioning Center.

Too early to think about Valentine's Day? Well, kids can enjoy theme-park good times at Universal and Epcot, and some FREE museum fun in Orlando.

There's a card workshop at the National Postal Museum and a sweethearts dance with the animals in West Springfield, Virginia.

Too early to think about Valentine's Day? Well, you can enjoy theater in Silver Spring, Maryland, a "Harry Potter" scavenger hunt in DC, or perhaps get outside for some maple sugaring in Wheaton, Maryland.

Before you sit down for the big game, why not get up and out for some family fun. This weekend in Washington, DC, families can enjoy continuing Lunar New Year celebrations, a maple sugaring festival, and a special Groundhog Day tea party.

Fans of chocolate —and who isn't?—can have a dream weekend in Fairfax, Virginia, while STEM and theater activities abound throughout the region.

Before you sit down for the big game, why not get up and out for some family fun. This weekend in Orlando families can enjoy a winter carnival in, appropriately, Winter Springs; a nature walk in Apopka; sports clinics and magic shows.

Have a kid who loves cars and trucks? Check out the Central Florida Soap Box Derby or Touch a Truck event in Sanford.
