North Country Camps - Lincoln for boys & Whippoorwill for girls - are located in the Adirondack region of New York State. We are a fun and adventurous program offering many activities in camp and an extensive wilderness trip program - hiking, canoeing, bicycling and sailing in the Adirondack and Lake Champlain region.
Morning Activities are chosen weekly, and afternoon activities are chosen daily based on individual interest. While children live with their peer group, activities are individual choice, allowing the campers to try new activities and deepen their skills in many areas. Because the campers are in activities they choose, they are able to make friendships across the full age range at camp. We have a counselor to camper ratio of 1:3, and 85% of our campers return each season.
The majority of our campers attend for the full 7 1/2 week season. We offer a 5 week option, and first-time campers of any age can choose to register for 3 weeks with the option to stay longer. The camp fee covers the cost of participation in every aspect of camp life, including horseback riding and wilderness trips.
Chartered buses travel from New York City and Albany to camp, and we can meet campers at airports in Burlington, Vermont; Montreal, Canada; Plattsburgh or Albany, New York.
Lincoln and Whippoorwill are two separate camps with their own living areas, dining halls, waterfronts and playing fields. We share horseback riding, and the ropes course get together regularly for activities and events.

The YMCA Camps (Ockanickon for Boys, Matollionequay for Girls and Lake Stockwell Day Camp) will provide your child with a top quality program in a safe, supportive environment led by adult role models. Through the single gender nature of our overnight camps, our campers experience something different and uniquely supportive. Boys interact with men who are strong and compassionate, assertive and attentive. Girls interact with women who are tenacious and tender, confident and caring. Boys and girls can be themselves and reenter the world with renewed confidence and empathy. In our co-ed day camp, boys and girls see balanced role models who prepare campers for everyday living, offer diverse points of view and allow campers to participate on an equal footing.
Our YMCA affiliation means we include the Y’s 4 core values in every aspect of our programming, demonstrating the importance of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Through safety inspections, ACA accreditation, staff training and background checks we strive to ensure the safety and well-being of every child. Our experienced counselors and programming promote friendships, positive self-esteem, healthy development and encourage individuality and independence. Our variety of fun, positive camp experiences will impact your child for a lifetime.
Our professional staff provide campers with a positive environment, as well as fun, safe and age-appropriate activities that aim to foster new relationships, build self-confidence and teach new skills. Inclusion, sportsmanship and learning to treat others with caring, honesty and respect are key values that we model for campers.
