North Cove Sailing

North Cove Sailing offers a youth summer sailing camp where budding sailors ages 7-17 learn the physics of sailing over the course of a week or several weeks. Campers work as a team to prepare the 26-foot boats for sailing, steer the boats, and adjust the sails. In the event of inclement weather, campers will participate in sailing-related STEM lessons on land. All instructors have US Coast Guard captain's licenses.

This summer, Chess NYC has gone virtual! Chess NYC's policy of "Chess Should Be Fun (Even Online)" prevails during the cool days of Fun & Training Camp. From beginners to grandmasters, these camps are sure to inspire, captivate, motivate, and generate chess players of all levels. Classes focus on strategies, defense, tactics, and even competitive online play.

Chess NYC is offering 4 levels of chess classes:

  • Head Start Jr.—Weekly progressive sessions to jump start your little one into the game.
  • Advancing in Chess—Classes focusing on basic strategies, defense, tactics, and competitive play.
  • GM Inspired TAG I—Classes for more competitive players focusing on advanced strategies and online competitive play.
  • GM Inspired TAG II—After graduating from TAG I, hourly classes will push students to the limit with next-level training and online competitive play.

Summer Skills Building Program
For students entering grades 1-6

During these two-week summer skills-building programs, students learn research-based, multi-sensory techniques to develop their reading, spelling, writing, executive functioning, and math word problem-solving skills. Prior to the start of each summer session, each student is individually evaluated to determine their academic levels, strengths, and weaknesses. EBL Coaching then provides them with customized, multi-sensory instruction tailored to their level and needs and teach them core skills that are essential for academic success. As the demands of school rise, these skills become increasingly important to develop. In small group settings, students learn research-based strategies to provide them with the tools they need to feel confident and successful in school. Students also love the rewards program and prizes they can earn, helping to motivate and empower them. 

Summer Strategy Building Program
for students entering grades 7-12

During these 2-week programs, students receive individualized instructional sessions to teach them fundamental executive functioning and academic skills that are essential for academic success. Each student is initially assessed to determine their strengths, weaknesses, and levels. They work in small groups during these intensive sessions and learn research-based strategies for note-taking, time management, organization, focusing, reading comprehension, and writing. Students will learn techniques including webbing, column-style note taking, outlining, brainstorming, writing, and other multi-sensory tools to help them thrive in school.

Lya Pouleyy's Studio - Summer Intensive Art & Dance Camp

WORLD PLAY is a summer intensive art and dance camp in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Teens (ages 13-17) will create, paint, and design clothes and accessories. They will discover different forms of art in the city, and they will have a lot of fun dancing and preparing a professional music video. At the end of the camp, the kids will have a professional photo shoot and video shoot and receive a camp certificate.

Mornings will be dedicated to art and afternoons to dance. The teenagers will discover art through four different cities: NYC, Paris, Tokyo, and Wakanda.

Camp runs from July 2-August 24, 2018 and has 4 sessions of 2 weeks each. You can register for more than one camp.

At New York School of Design's NYC Summer Fashion Camp, have a blast in the fashion capital of the world and learn how to combine principles of art with elements of design to create your very own outfit with coordinating accessories.

During this fun, fashion filled week, you will go on inspiration-building field trips, create mood boards with your own fashion sketches, work in a hands-on fashion studio, experiment with fabrics, drape your own garment, sew your design, create a look combining your finished piece with accessories, design your own bag, and model your look in Bryant Park and on the “runway” for friends and family.
