Join us for the first workshop in our Fall Workshop Series on Multilingualism and Bi-literacy presented by Harvard University’s Dr. Maria Luisa Parra and chaired by Pierre-Antoine Tiberi, Youth Programs Coordinator at the French Cultural Center. The ABCs of Multilingualism (Birth to 6) is for parents of young children who are interested in raising them speaking their home language while supporting English oral development. This workshop is also for English-speaking parents interested in their children learning a second language. Parents will learn the main milestones in language development from birth to age 6.

Parents will also become familiar with the following:

  • The different environments in which children learn more than one language.
  • How languages in contact interact in our communities and homes.
  • What to expect at home when raising children with two languages,
  • How to nurture three main areas of language development: Vocabulary, Narrative, and Pragmatics

Once you have completed registration for this workshop, we will be using our online learning management tool Canvas to initiate conversation on these topics. Free childcare will be provided during the workshop. Pricing Member: $20.00 | Member + 1 guest: $30.00 | Non-Member: $25.00 | Non-Member + 1 guest: $40.00 RSVP is required, and payment is due at the time of registration.
