Chatty Child Speech Therapy, PLLC was founded by Heather Boerner, M.A., CCC-SLP, Speech Language Pathologist. Chatty Child is a speech-language therapy center located in downtown Manhattan for children ages 1 month to 18 years of age. Chatty Child specializes in treating apraxia of speech, articulation, speech and language delays, and feeding delays for children of all ages. All of Chatty Child therapists are PROMPT trained and experts in working with children who are experiencing speech and language delays.

Heather has a personal connection to all the children and families she works with, as she was a child who received therapy herself. Through her own personal therapeutic journey, Heather was able to reach her full potential. She feels a special connection to all children with special needs and the unique challenges they face. It is her personal mission ‘to create voices one child at a time.’

Chatty Child is a state of the art speech and language center and employs highly dedicated, caring and compassionate therapists to work with children and their families. Emphasis is on empowering each child to find their own voice and to also empower the families to become successful communication partners with their children. Chatty Child specializes in creating a caring, stimulating learning environment for each child, with their interests and likes in mind.

Chatty Child has partnered with Sonya Kashlan of Connected Kids and now offers Occupational Therapy at the Center as well as accepting RSA DOE work. Occupational Therapy is a health profession focused on maximizing an individual’s ability to function in his/her daily life. OT's assist children and their caregivers to build skills that enable them to participate in meaningful occupations. A child’s 'occupation' is comprised of play, self-care skills, learning, school performance and social interactions. A therapist works to tap into a child’s interests to provide challenging therapeutic 'play' activities. An OT specializes in creating opportunities for children to master developmental tasks and achieve independence in home, school and within their communities.
Our Occupational Therapist, Sonya Kashlan, provides full evaluations including standardized tests, Screenings, Handwriting Evaluations and Remediation, School Consultations, Child and Family Advocacy; Family Training Sessions; Information Sessions; Group Therapy Session. Sonya conducts private individual session with fully coded invoices for insurance reimbursement and she accepts RSA DOE cases.

Chatty Child offers individual and group based sessions as well as social and feeding groups. Chatty Child is an approved DOE and EI RSA provider for pre-school and school aged children. Private pay with fully coded invoices are provided to assist with insurance reimbursement.

Come take a tour of the Chatty Child Speech Therapy Center. We cannot wait to hear what your child has to say. We create voices one child at a time!
