14th Street Y 2x2 Program

0

A perfect prelude to preschool, our 2x2 program helps toddlers develop friendships, master the routines, materials and activities of an early childhood classroom, and discover the joys of being independent! A lively mix of art, music, creative movement, dramatic play, storytelling and choice time, this year-long program meets from September-June. Children are grouped by age within a 4-6 month range. Small class size and high teacher-to-student ratios ensure plenty of individualized attention throughout your child’s first experience of “school”. Grown-ups enjoy the information and support our discussion groups and free parenting workshops offer, too!

Advantage QuickStart Tennis

Whether your child has a strategic tennis game or has never even picked up a racquet, there’s an Advantage QuickStart class that’s just the right fit. Advantage Quickstart teaches boys and girls as young as 3 and as old as 12, at many convenient locations across NYC, all year round. Classes are customized to address students’ ages and abilities, with a student-teacher ratio of 4 or 5 to 1. The youngest students play in small spaces, with small racquets and slower-bouncing balls. The oldest, most advanced players fine-tune their serves and develop a winning strategy. Players in between learn basic hand-eye and racquet skills and how to hit the ball over the net consistently, then move on to forehand, backhand, volley and serve. As they develop their game, we teach intermediate stroke technique, basic strategy, playing points and keeping score. There’s no experience necessary and equipment is provided.
