Natural dyes were the only way of producing rich color for paints, clothes, blankets, rugs, curtains, and even leather in the early 1800s, and they didn't always produce the colors you'd expect.
Come dye a few cotton fabric items with different 19th century dyes using ingredients like turmeric and oxidized copper, then take home your projects to wear and use.
