Free Second Sunday at the Whitney
Admission to the Whitney is free for all visitors all day on the second Sunday of every month. Enjoy art, all-ages artmaking related to art on view, storytimes from The New York Public Library, tours, the Whitney’s restaurants, city views, and more, this month celebrating the Sixties Surreal exhibit.
From 11am–12pm in the third-floor theater, travel back to the 1960s and listen to a rock and roll performance by The Kaleidoscope Collective.
From 11am–3pm in the third-floor Artspace, artists of all ages are invited to play a giant version of the Surrealist drawing game Exquisite Corpse. All are welcome to create drawings and then mix and match with others to see what unexpected combinations emerge.
From 12–4pm in the third-floor theater, visitors are invited to make six-sided self-portraits inspired by Marisol’s Women and Dog, which is featured in Sixties Surreal.
Though admission is free, tickets are required and capacity is limited. Advance tickets are recommended.
