Around the Block Party (Academy Museum)
The entire Academy Museum comes alive with activities inspired by the museum’s exhibition Regeneration: Black Cinema 1898–1971.
Guests can explore fundamental skills in film production at a hands-on workshop hosted by Black Girl Film School, listen to a fusion of classic sounds inspired by the Regeneration era, visit the the Regeneration Maker Lounge, catch a series of live and intimate pop-up performances paying homage to iconic Black performers, and strike a pose at the Las Fotos Project hosted photobooth. The Regeneration Summit's opening panel explores the question "What Does Black Cinema Mean to You?"
The mini food market features all Black women–owned pop-up food vendors powered by Black Women Vendors.
The evening concludes with a performance on the dance floor honoring Cabell “Cab” Calloway and the Nicholas Brothers (Harold and Fayard Nicholas)
