Halloween Ghost Train
The Ghost Train is back! For 10 spooky nights, families can squeal along Griffith Park's Ghost Train, created by Los Angeles Live Steamers. The small scale ride-on trains take a gently ghoulish trek through a Halloween wonderland.
The ride lasts a good 15-20 minutes through an impressive variety of Halloween landscapes, covering every spooky theme imaginable, along the 7.5 gauge tracks.
Note that riders* are never threatened, and there are no actors jumping out. The decorations and sound effects get creepy in spots, but the target audience is clearly under 10, and we see plenty of three and four-year-olds having a grand time. That said, we also know older kids totally happy to participate in this family outing.
The Ghost Train is a very popular event, so expect a wait, especially as Halloween draws near. You might want to consider showing up early and having a picnic dinner in line while waiting, or alternatively showing up towards the end of the night (say 9:30 or later), particularly on Sundays.
This year, timed tickets and express tickets are available in advance for $25-$30; tickets at the gate are still $20.
*Riders must be 34" or taller and weigh less than 350 lbs.
