Weekend Fun for Boston Kids: Kite Flying, Brainy Books, and Fairies; May 20-21
Nice to see the sunshine after all the dreary weather we've been having this spring. Luckily, there are plenty of chances to enjoy the outdoors this weekend, including two chances to fly kites—at Franklin Park and Revere Beach. Fairies are waiting to be discovered in the woods, sculpture is meeting with nature, and wildlife (and bikes!) are on display.
Get ready for all that summer pool time at these swim safety and open family swim events (Needham, Westford, and Burlington), spend some time with local tween authors, celebrate our hometown LEGOLAND's birthday, and check out this Summer Brain Quest kickoff party (MP will be there too!).
Also on Mommy Poppins this week:
- Need a little something cold and sweet? We've found the most mouth-watering frappes in town.
- Rock on at these summer music camps.
- Grab the family and explore the Berkshires.
- Go fish! (no, really!)

Sculpture Meets Nature: Outdoor Ceramics at the Durant-Kenrick House and Grounds - Newton
This free, outdoor art exhibit features students in the Architectural Ceramics Program-Office for the Arts at Harvard using architecture as well as the historic Durant-Kenrick House as inspiration for forms that may combine the human figure, animals, fruit or flowers.
Meet local authors Erin Dionne, Jen Malone, Lee Gjertsen Malone, Luke Reynolds, and Anna Staniszewski for book signings, crafts, cookies, and a "Writing Tween" author panel at 3pm.
