Weekend Fun for Boston Kids: Kite Flying, Brainy Books, and Fairies; May 20-21

Nice to see the sunshine after all the dreary weather we've been having this spring. Luckily, there are plenty of chances to enjoy the outdoors this weekend, including two chances to fly kites—at Franklin Park and Revere Beach. Fairies are waiting to be discovered in the woods, sculpture is meeting with nature, and wildlife (and bikes!) are on display.

Get ready for all that summer pool time at these swim safety and open family swim events (Needham, Westford, and Burlington), spend some time with local tween authors, celebrate our hometown LEGOLAND's birthday, and check out this Summer Brain Quest kickoff party (MP will be there too!).

Developed in collaboration with arts education students from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and professional artists, Make/Made focuses on the creative process and allows participants to learn by doing.

Happy birthday, Legoland! Photo courtesy of Legoland Discovery Center, Boston
Legoland Discovery Center is hosting a birthday party featuring appearances by some favorite Lego characters; plus guests receive birthday treats and Lego giveaways throughout the day.

SUNDAY, May 14
This festival is a staple every May on Revere Beach, where families can come fly kites, and the first 300 kids (under age 12) get a kite for free.
Catch us at Bedford's Learning Express (with some special friends) this weekend!
Start summer off right at Learning Express in Bedford where the team from Mommy Poppins is taking kids on a summer smarts adventure with Summer Brain Quest. There will be Peppa Pig, Marshall from Paw Patrol, fun games, and a special treat. Come play with us from 2 to 4 pm!
This time-travel-themed circus show is a lot of fun, featuring a nice mix of eye-popping acrobatic acts and some silly clowning around.
In this show, actor Charlie Ross single-handedly plays all the characters of Star Wars with spot-on voice impressions, sings the music, flies the ships, fights the battles, and condenses the plots of the three films into one very funny production.
Attendees learn a few kitchen fundamentals, then get hands-on in the kitchen. Each student also gets to take home a Barbie goodie bag.
