TriBeCa Hit S'Kid Row

Just a few years ago Tribeca was a bit of a wasteland, especially when in came to shopping for children. But in the last couple of years the neighborhood has become one of the most popular places to live for families (due in large part to the strength of it's public schools and lofty, family-sized apartments) and children's stores and venues are popping up everywhere.
The epicenter of this maelstrom seems to have landed on Duane and Reade Streets between West Broadway and Church where you'll find MiniMasters, the JCP Downtown, Washington Market School, and Whipper Snippers all on the same physical block with Kidville and Tribeca Treats just across the street on Duane.
Within a five block radius you will also find:
Babesta —Cool threads and more for babies, toddlers and kids from Ramones shirts to Duc Duc digs.
Babylicious - Baby toys, gifts and clothing
Blue Bench - Bring your designer to this cool furniture stores or just drop by to see their great collection of toys and books.
Boomerang Toys - This store is packed with toys and games from baby through tweens.

Koh's Kids- 311 Greenwich St, (212) 791-6915 - Clothing for kids for baby and kids.

I think your best bet in the neighborhood for finding an online community is HRP Mamas. It includes moms in the downtown area and they have great resources, discounts and info for getting moms and kiddos together:

A new center called Body and Mind Builders just opened up at 78 Reade Street a few months ago. It has great wellness programs for adults as well as for children. Recently added some mommy and me classes too. Very knowledgable teachers. Definitely swing by.
