This Week: Renaissance Festival, Pick-Your-Own Berry Day Trips, New LEGOLAND Hotel

There are lots of great outdoor events on tap this week as we move into the summer season! With popular annual street fairs and the start of many free outdoor concert series, there's plenty of warm weather fun to be had all over the tri-state area.

Head to nearby New Jersey for Oasis Family Farm's Strawberry Festival, complete with wagon rides, pie-eating contests and, of course, strawberries! Or travel back in time at the Robin Hood Renaissance Festival in New Haven, where kids can try archery, participate in daily tournaments and enjoy other period activities. Spending the weekend in the Hamptons? Here's a roundup of all the family-friendly fun on tap.

Our Travel site has details on what may be the world's most kid-friendly lodging: Florida's new LEGOLAND Hotel.

Here's what else we covered on the NYC site this week:

Weekend Fun with LA Kids: Family Play Day, CicLAvia, and Stroll 'n Run May 30-31

Party over here! Party over there! Holla! Mommy P in the house! Or in this case at the Autry, chilling with our SoCalMoms peeps and getting our family fun on. Come on down and touch some Aquarium of the Pacific sea life, snap yourself silly in the photo booth, get glammed from nails to hair, and watch the kid bands battle it out. It's going to be epic.

Or you can just walk it off. Or ride. Or dance. In Pasadena, you can show you don't need no stinkin' car to get where you're going. At South Coast Botanic Gardens, you can run-stroll in solidarity with fellow moms. So you think you can dance? Try shaking your tail feathers with Ernie, Cookie, and Elmo.

Whatever you're up for, we can help you figure out how to do it, whether you want to catch a new flick, an old one, or several in a row. Whether you want to pick a good book, or fine berries, or stars out of the sky, we're here for you. Come say hi.

Weekend Fun for LI Kids: Goodnight Moon, Brookhaven Fair, Spy Saturday May 30-31

Get ready for a "berry" good time at this weekend's annual Strawberry Festival in Bellmore. Or turn your berry bounty into sweet treats at Benner's Farm.

Looking for some indoor fun? A stage adaptation of the beloved children's book Goodnight Moon is being performed at the Long Island Children's Museum throughout the weekend. Or you could catch another page-to-stage musical, Seussical, in Islip.

Weekend Fun for Boston Kids: Family Concerts & Nature Festival, May 30-31

Music fans certainly have their pick of concerts this weekend! A music festival at the Newton Free Library sounds pretty amazing, and there's also a family concert with the Chameleon Arts Ensemble that includes an instrument petting zoo.

Another great live entertainment option is at one of my family's favorite museums, the ICA Boston (pictured). This particular Play Date appears on our May GoList because of its combination of art-related activities along with a family-friendly performance. Other fun this weekend includes an Audubon Nature Festival with live owl presentations and an opportunity for stargazing.

Weekend Fun for Westchester Kids: ICS Carnival, Cultural Festivals, Snakes, May 30-31

It’s hard to believe that May is already winding down. Since temperatures have yet to soar, now’s the perfect time to enjoy all the outdoor family fun happening throughout Westchester.

This weekend, two great programs will take you back in time: the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII, which includes period recreations and commemorative ceremonies, and a hike to the historic Spencer Optical Factory site, which offers a peek at the past.

Immerse yourself in another culture at the Asian Heritage Festival or Albanian Heritage Festival. If a nature program is more your speed, you can Shout Out for Snakes or ask Polly if she wants a cracker at Parrots of the World.

Other weekend highlights include the White Plains Outdoor Arts Festival, the ICS Carnival and your last chance to see Lightscapes.
