Born to be Shorn - Sheep Shearing Day
Visit Fosterfields Living Historical Farm for Sheep Shearing Day, and watch master shearer Margaret Quinn demonstrate how to shear a sheep using old-fashioned tools and knowhow. See demonstrations of wool combing and spinning, needle felting, wool dyeing, knitting, and weaving.
Take a wagon ride around the farm, and hop off for a tour inside The Willows 1854 historic mansion, the 1915 farmhouse, and Caroline's Cottage and gardens. Help with farm chores such as cracking corn and feeding the chickens. There's a sheep-themed craft for children. All can visit the farm's three exhibits: Well Played showing toys and games of yesteryear, the restored Carriage House, and the Transportation Exhibit featuring a climb-on Model T truck and the original, restored 1922 Model T car that was driven around town.
