Snapping Turtles—Andy’s Annual Prehistoric Monster Hunt
The Snapping Turtle—which can grow to a length of three feet from head to tail and weigh up to 70 pounds—is the subject of this annual adventure with the President of SOFO's board of directors, Andy Sabin. Get to know the Eastern Painted Turtle and (maybe!) meet the aptly named Stinkpot Turtle.
Please note that, as mandated by the latest State Executive Order regarding COVID-19 safety precautions, the number of participants for outdoor nature walks is limited. SOFO will at all times follow stringent six-feet distancing separation protocols required by the Department of Health for the safety of participants and environmental educators. Masks and gloves are provided for all attendees.
Advance reservations are required for all events. To register for this walk, which is limited to 25 people, please email info@sofo.org. Spots will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, and your reservation will be confirmed by email.
