The Best Places for Outdoor Ice Skating with Kids in Westchester

This time of year can be tough. The holiday excitement is over and we’re still months away from springtime temperatures. Winter blues start to set in and kids (and adults) are prone to cabin fever. Sure, you can head to one of Westchester’s many indoor play spots for a romp sans the coat and gloves. But how about embracing the season and heading outdoors to enjoy the crisp air and sweeping winter landscape? If you keep moving, it’s not so bad…right?

If there’s not enough snow for sledding, outdoor ice skating might just do the trick. A new outdoor rink debuted in Westchester this season and several county parks offer skating options once the lakes freeze over. The best part is most options are FREE or charge nominal fees, so grab your mittens and skates and head outdoors for some winter fun and exercise that can keep little ones (and your wallet) happy all winter. Read on for your best bets for outdoor ice skating with kids in and around Westchester!

Parents' Night Out: Fun Drop-Off Services for Kids in Westchester

The holidays are safely behind us and the kids are back in school. You’ve filled up the calendar with fun activities and outings for the kids this month. Now it’s your turn for a fun night out sans the kids. Wouldn't it be nice to leave for a date night without your youngest hugging your legs, koala-style, screaming "Mommy, don't goooooo!"?

Well, instead of hiring a sitter for the night, why not make it a night out for the kids also? They may be more willing to let Mommy and Daddy go if they’ve got a night of fun activities ahead. It turns out that a number of local places your children may already frequent offer Parents’ Night Out services. For some, you can even arrange a night out with the staff—all you have to do is ask! Read on for details on drop-off services for your next date night. Enjoy!

3 Cool Candy Shops for Westchester Families

Kids love candy (and so do their parents). Though we usually try to keep candy to a minimum, we know it's fun to indulge in sinfully delightful sweets. And if you're going to indulge, might as well make an experience out of it. While little ones may be content with a packaged treat in the checkout aisle, why not go big at one of Westchester's local sweet shops?

We've mentioned several of Westchester's awesome ice cream shops, however, maybe a good old fashioned candy shop is more your speed. If you're looking for a candy fix while you're out and about checking out the fun family events in Westchester, be sure to check out one of these local sweet shops that go above and beyond to satisfy any sweet tooth!
