Age: 6 and older

Location:
Harrison Public Library - Richard E. Halperin Building

Celebrate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolutionary War by learning some of the folktales, legends, and songs of the period. Joy Kelly Smith presents an interactive performance, accompanying herself on guitar and encouraging the audience participate verbally, with sung response, and with movement.

Most of the stories take place in the New York area and include the Dutch influence. The songs share history from England and the Netherlands, some are homegrown, some familiar (Yankee Doodle) and others not so familiar  (Sarasponda). Joy invites questions and comments at the end. Registration is required on the library website.
