Farmers markets are opening up all around the area allowing us to enjoy the bounty of summer products. Visiting a farmers market is a great way to teach your child about good nutrition and developing healthy eating habits. A special place filled with colorful fruits and vegetables, beautiful flowers and much more, you can let your child freely explore the delicious world of garden-fresh produce. Many of the farmers markets here in Hartford County provide fun family friendly activities to enjoy as well.

Connecticut will be celebrating with a variety of Independence Day events and activities this season. You can find plenty of fireworks displays on the 4th of July and beyond within the Hartford County area. On Saturday June 9, Connecticut is opening its doors to the public for the 8th annual open house. Residents are invited to explore the state’s arts, history and tourism with this exciting event for the whole family. Many of the local spots participating in this open house are offering discounted or free admission, free gifts, special exhibits, and fun activities. While participating sites will be hosted throughout the entire state I have listed here the spots located in Hartford County. The only hard part will be trying to decide which location to visit!
Schools out for summer! Can you believe another year has passed us already?! Being our neighboring state it’s only a quick car ride away and offers plenty of fun locations to check out with your family. Filled with an array of historic sites and entertaining tourist attractions you will have no trouble finding a choice for your one day getaway.
