Bohème Out of the Box
- see all dates
This free, outdoor performance of Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème is traveling to Alameda, South San Francisco, Los Gatos, and Dublin Frida-Sunday until April 2. These one-hour intimate performances are taking the opera out of the opera stage and accessible to all.
Sung in Italian and featuring English dialogue, the play is performed by guest artists and San Francisco Opera Adler Fellows with piano accompaniment.
Friday and Saturday performances include pre-opera informational talks 45 minutes before showtime to help guide you through key points of the story, the music, and what the opera is all about.
Families with young children will love First Act Workshops on Sunday matinees 45 minutes before showtime. Kids are taken on an imaginary trip to Cafe Momus where the opera is set and learn about the characters. Kids can also bring a stuffed animal to dance to "Musetta's Waltz" before heading into the show.
