Weekend Fun for Philly Kids Nov 1-2: Last Chance for Halloween Thrills and Apple Festival Fun

Despite the fact that this weekend marks the first full weekend in November, there are still a few chances to enjoy Halloween fun. Brandywine Zoo's Boo at the Zoo occurs this weekend, and Dutch Wonderland offers its last Happy Hauntings opportunity. The Independence Seaport Museum wraps up its final Ghost Tours of the Haunted USS Olympia, which is sure to send shivers down your spine.

However, if your family is ready to embrace November, the month of thankfulness and family, then what better way to celebrate together than with these family activities from the Mommy Poppins calendar?

Rock out to music from the Billy Jonas Concert at the Mitchell Performing Arts Center in Bryn Athyn, focus on your creative side at the Abington Art Center's Eureka! program, or take part in the apple pie eating contest at the Peddler's Village Apple Festival. No doubt, there is lots of family fun to be had.

Weekend Fun for Philly Kids October 25-26: Trick-or-Treats, Halloween Parades and Fall Festivals

Candy bars, lollipops, plastic spider rings and boxes of Halloween tattoos are typical items you may find in your kids’ “Trick-or-Treat” bag. But, trick-or-treating doesn’t just happen on October 31st! There are plenty of opportunities to collect sweet treats. This weekend offers Franklin Square's Trick-or-Treat Trail, Warminster Park's Trunk-or-Treat, Montgomery Mall's Mall-O-Ween and Fort Mifflin's Trick-or-Treat with the Ghosts just to name a few.

If you are looking to enjoy the outdoors while the weather is mild, then dress in your Halloween costume and bring a chair to a parade near you. Media, Phoenixille and Kennett Square are all joining in the fun with their Halloween parades this weekend.

Sad to say, this is the last full weekend in October and it marks the last chance for many fall festivals in our area. Therefore, be sure to check the calendar so as not to miss out on the fall fun that remains.

Weekend Fun for Philly Kids October 18-19: Pumpkins, Hayrides, Halloween Parades and more

Cooler temperatures, falling leaves and front lawns spotted with pumpkins are all indications of this delightful time of year known as autumn. Another sure sign of the season is the Mommy Poppins calendar jam packed with festivals, hayrides and pumpkin patches. Just this weekend, None Such Farm in Buckingham, Linvilla Orchards in Media and Shady Brook Farms in Yardley all host their fall festivals and events.

If your kids want to try out their Halloween costumes before the "Big Day," Saturday's Skippack's Halloween Parade could be the perfect venue. Or put on those costumes and head to Philadelphia Zoo's Boo at the Zoo

On the other hand, if you have had enough of the pumpkins, scarecrows, apples and hayrides to fill your entire treat bucket to the top, escape to one of the consignment sales going on this weekend.
