Things to do with kids in the Philly area on weekends

Chilling temperatures can not deter Philly parents from offering opportunities for Philly kids to discover new activities, learn facts about previously unknown topics, and have indoor fun. This weekend allows plenty of options that can be found in our events calendar.

Museums are a great way to escape winter weather while offering excitement and fun. Penn Museum offers its family-oriented Second Saturday event which features a "Let the Games Begin" theme while the National Liberty Museum hosts its monthly GiveBack Workshop, a chance to make and donate to Capes for Kids. Curious minds may be interested in learning about Vikings at The Franklin Institute's Vikings: Beyond the Legend exhibit or Alexander Hamilton at the Museum of the American Revolution.

Those looking to see a show can find many from which to select. Charlotte's Web is on stage at the Arden Theatre, The Wizard of Oz can be seen at The Media Theatre, Seussical can be found at Delaware Children's Theatre, and the characters from Peter and the Starcatcher come to life at Wolf Performing Arts Center. Itching to get outside? Nature lovers can brave the weather to take a winter night hike at Tyler Arboretum or try a cross-country ski clinic at Norristown Farm Park.
