The first weekend in January lends itself to savoring the remaining bits of holiday fun that Philly families can find on our event calendar. It's the last weekend to see the lights at Shady Brook Farms, the holiday decorations at Winterthur, the trains at Brandywine River Museum, and the poinsettias at Longwood Gardens.

If your crew is past holiday activities, Philly kids can get outside to look for winter birds at the Conversancy Cottage, learn about owls who reside in Pennsylvania at Norristown Farm Park, or have a unique escape adventure at Warwick Park. Once reaching your fill of outdoor fun, head indoors to build something, draw something, craft something, explore something, or watch something special.

Plan out winter fun by reviewing our top winter activities post and free fun ahead in January. For now, read about our top picks for the weekend ahead!
