For most Philly kids, the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday provides a long, three-day weekend. Thankfully, Philly families can turn to our jam-packed events calendar to find creative and educational ways to spend the time together.

Recognize Dr. King by serving the community through artwork and inspiring letters, or by cleaning up a nature preserve, neighborhood street, or park.  Explore one of the many museums hosting MLK Day programming such as the National Museum for American Jewish History, National Liberty Museum, or National Constitution Center. Philly parents who don't have the day off from school can check out one of the day camp opportunities for their kids at Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, The Center on Central, Briar Bush Nature Center, and Arden Theatre.

Other weekend activities include outdoor fun at Tyler's Hot Chocolate and Hike especially for dads and daughters, artistic sessions at Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve, and scientific experimentation at Hagley Museum's Invention Convention. However you chose to spend the weekend, make it a great one!
