Kick off Black History Month celebrating Leaders and Legends at Smith Memorial Playground. This second annual front-lawn exhibition features images of African American hometown heroes along with educational displays about each individual's life and community contributions. Meet the honorees at Opening Day Hooray and enjoy special activities throughout Smith Memorial Playground and Playhouse.

The event's rain date is Sunday, February 6. Light refreshments will be served.  Among the honorees attending are John Chaney, Joan Myers Brown, Otis Hackney, and Robert Bogle. The opening day event ends at 1, but the playground and playhouse are open until 4.  Leaders and Legends is on view through Feb 28.
